This illustrates a danger of buying a book unseen on the Internet. The book was nowhere what its title leads you to believe and is a very poor product. It is a sparsely detailed work with little depth. The pieces of what he considers the "key" races are two page summaries that tell you little of what happened in the race itself. And to leave Tazio Nuvolari's drive in the 1935 German Grand Prix out of this list of races is criminal. It almost seems the author limited the book to what he could or only chose to research. One third of the book are two page "testimonials" which are again lacking in depth and include people who drove only on the "new" shortened 1990s and 2000 grand prix track and people like Max Mosley who have never driven there period! I am a Nurburgring "nut" who reads and watches videos of anything I can get my hands on about the Nordschleife. I plan on traveling there after I retire from working to drive the course. This booked added nothing to my bank of knowledge. It is not a "History" publication worth paying anywhere near the price.

Excellent book at a great price thru Amazon. Complements best book on Nurburgring - "Kings of the Nurburgring" by Chris Nixon (long out-of-print).Aged 17, just got my license, I "drove" around the Track in 1965 in a VW Beetle. A scary situation, being much slower than most everything on the track. ...... but I can still remember it clearly 50 years later.

Overall a great book. Photos and writing are excellent.I must say I was disappointed the book has zero track maps or diagrams where significant events occurred on the track.

What a place! After "discovering" the 'Ring in1959 reading Road & Track and Sports Cars Illustrated I finally got there in 2012. What a thrill. I put my rental car on the Nordschleife for one lap (26 euros) and will never forget it. This book is a beauty, although there are never enough color pictures of the sports and formula cars that raced there in the fifties and sixties.

The book does not contain almost any picture of the circuit it self. I didn't expect that. It's disappointing.
